The problem is that some people think that slavery and racism ARE American institutions.
Preaching to the choir baby!
M-dog, they were (as well you know). America is a great place, but we have to also acknowledge that for some there was no American Dream, rather there was an American Nightmare (malcom x). We've had a checkered past. And we are having a checkered present. The Obama descion to allow US tax money to pay for foriegn abortions has brought all this schtuff back to mind. It's massively ironic that the 1st "black" president is so radically pro-choice. So numb to the fact that the talking points used to justify abortion now are the same talking points that have been used to justify every other egregious human rights violation in our country's history.I've said it before, but I'll say it again- the degree to which you can buy into the pro-choice arguments in today's world are a measure of how deeply you would have bought into the pro-slavery arguments advanced 150 years ago.
Yes, they WERE American institutions, but they no longer are. I was saying that there are those who think they still are.
Well, will the American citizens see Obama for what he is? Maybe we'll only have to put up with him for 4 years. I hope. If not, then our country has gone even farther down the crapper than I thought. It makes me sick how everyone has been duped. Media! I hope everyone figures it out and quits watching the stupid news. Bankrupt the retards.
Racism is still pretty frickin American though, M-dog. Affirmative Action.
i acually had part of this discussion with a black man the other day. i said that when it was started afermitive action was a nessasary problm because of the wide spread racizm. but that it had out lived its original purpos and scope. and that its current use was nothing but reverse discrimination. that racizm is wrong now matter when it happened or happenes and no matter who does it. as far as abortion goes, i wander what the unintended consiquinces will be and when we will colectivly recognise them.
I'm pretty sure that we've got Obama for eight years. I'm not sure that he'll leave the legacy that he hopes to leave but I'm pretty sure he's there.FOCA is a nightmare. Let's just hope that no Supreme Court justices kick the bucket until at least 2017!
Nope. 4years. or less if we can impeach him.Why do you guys take this type of defeatist attitude? No offense Dana-I've heard this sort of thing before. But- 4 years is plenty of time. Have you no HOPE for CHANGE in the FUTURE?(lol) What's so hard about winning?J
we cant impeach him for sucking. he has to commet a high crime or misdomeaner
with the list of stuff he has already done i think we are looking at a 1 termer.
Yeah, I'm thinking that after four years of having an ultra liberal president that people will realize that the experiment failed, and want to go back at least somewhat. Hmmm, think of all the presidents (recently) that only lasted 4 years. Bush #1--went back on his word and raised taxes. Carter--sucked at getting people at dealing with terrorists.Obama--WILL have to go back on his word, and he will suck at dealing with terrorists.
