What I do at work is... well alot of it is creating 3-d computer models of the product. Its kinda fun. I did a wee extra-curricular project the other day and made a scale model of the sun and the planets. I took the above snapshots. The first one shows the compartive size of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, with a bit of the sun showing on the left. The second image shows The Sun on the left in full size and then all the other planets in the same order as the in the first shot. But you can't really see Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars in the second shot, because they are just too small.

Why can't we go to Venus? Just too darn hot? Mars seems so small compared to Earth and Venus.

Venus is extremely hot. Like melts construction helmets. Very dense atmosphere, like 90x thicker than ours, give it a mega greenhouse effect. If you could fix the atmosphere it might be a nice place.

Ya know... its an iteresting point. Mean, yeah Mars is cold and hasn't got alot of air, but to me the real problem with trying to live there is its quite small, and living under a feeble gravity like that can't be healthy. And there is just zero that can be done about that.

On the other hand Venus is quite close to the same size as Earth. But nobody knows how to work around the atmosphere problems.
